Everton manager Benitez under pressure after new claim emerges
Everton have lost three league games in a row and have only won one of their last five league games.
It is not a disastrous run yet, but with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Manchester City still to play, you would think it could get worse before it gets better.
That could spell the end for Rafael Benitez, who wasn’t exactly the most popular choice to replace Carlo Ancelotti, despite his superb CV [Daily Mail].

Things started so well, but injuries and poor squad depth have exposed this Toffees team.
Now there has been a claim from Germany that Everton are keen on Roger Schmidt from PSV Eindhoven [Sport Bild].
The 54-year-old has been in charge of the Dutch side since 2020, and in that time, he has won one trophy and qualified for the Europa League.
Now, you could argue that Schmidt would struggle to do any better than Benitez with this current Toffees team that injuries have decimated.
He also doesn’t have any Premier League experience, and you could say that is what the Toffees need right now.

The only thing that he has over Benitez is that he hasn’t managed Liverpool.
Now, plenty of Evertonians aren’t bothered about Benitez’s connections to the Reds as long as he does a good job.
However, in the eyes of others, he will be afforded less patience because of that connection to Liverpool, which is a shame but it is the truth.
Now, the last two displays have been awful, so Toffees fans are allowed to be angry about those, so now it is up to the Spaniard to turn it around because if he can’t, the likes of Schmidt appear to be waiting.
In other Everton news, Benitez has made a transfer admission ahead of January.
