Fabian Delph set to start for Everton v Tottenham Hotspur

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph is set to start against Tottenham Hotspur after impressing in training this week, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The 31-year-old had an impressive cameo against Wolves earlier this week and despite the Toffees losing the game, he was one of the few bright sparks.

Rafa Benitez is understood to be deciding how he will use the midfielder in his lineup against a rejuvenated Spurs side.

Must start

Delph will be almost like a new signing for Everton given how rarely he’s been available for selection.

Benitez did not get a midfielder he seemed to have wanted in the summer, and hopefully, Delph could offer him what he needs for the games to come.

At 31, he may not be the most mobile of players, but he’s certainly efficient, and able to put in a shift.

His versatility is another important aspect and possibly why Benitez is mulling over his positioning as he offers a number of different options to him.

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s injury has really hit the Toffees hard and while Delph is not as good as the Frenchman, Everton don’t have too many better options in reserve.

We would be baffled if he doesn’t start this one as everything that’s happened this week points to him being named in the eleven.
