Ian Wright and Tim Sherwood believe Everton deserved penalty v Spurs
Ian Wright and Tim Sherwood jointly agreed that the referee got it wrong for not handing Everton a penalty against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Midway through the second half, Hugo Lloris brought Richarlison down and referee Chris Kavanagh initially pointed to the spot.
However, he was then consulted by VAR and asked to rewatch the incident on the monitor which made him reverse his decision.

Discussing this incident on Premier League Productions, Sherwood said, “I thought it was a penalty. Thought Richarlison got a toe. It’s impossible for them to label it a clear and obvious error but I think it’s wrong to rule it out.”
To which Wright responded, “It did look like a penalty. You can judge from the movement of the ball.”
Shocking decision
It was a stonewall penalty and it’s shocking that Kavanagh was even asked to have a second look at the incident.
He made the correct call in real time and was probably confused by the VAR who wanted him to go over it again.
Once he goes to the monitor, there’s a very high possibility that the decision would be overturned so we’re not surprised by that.
Sherwood is absolutely spot on there and is surprisingly speaking against his former club.
That is a penalty ten times out of ten and the decision has cost Everton the three points against a top side.
At least their losing streak has come to an end, but there are still things that need to be done in order to ensure that they finish the season in the top half.
