Michael Brown blown away by Everton man Andros Townsend

Michael Brown was very impressed with Everton winger Andros Townsend against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old was playing against his old team and was deployed in a different role by Rafael Benitez, and it seems as if he impressed Brown.

The game ended 0-0, but this was a much better performance from the Toffees, and Townsend was one of the standout players.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, the former Leeds United man said: “It’s a different environment for Andros Townsend playing more centrally; he’s a wide player.

“He’s always fired up, Townsend. For a wide player, you wouldn’t expect him to have as much fire in his belly as he does.

He then added in the second half: “Andros Townsend is really charging about. It’s good; it’s lifting these supporters.”

Townsend continues to impress.

He might not have scored or provided an assist in this game, but he really set the tone, and Goodison Park loved it.

Every time he steamed into a challenge or forced someone back, the Toffees fans reacted and roared the team on.

It might be early days into his Everton career, but he could fast become a player who Toffees fans might love.

He always works hard for the team and seems willing to die for the shirt, so it was no wonder that Brown was blown away by Townsend’s display.

If his teammates can follow his example in the coming games, then you would think the Toffees could be in a good position going forward.

Certainly, they were a lot better today, and Townsend embodied that spirit and fight through his hard work and commitment to the cause.
