Michael Brown delivers verdict on Richarlison penalty call v Tottenham
Everton played out a 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Toffees went down to 10-men towards the end, but they were really good overall against Antonio Conte’s team.
Although the match was played at a great tempo, both sides failed to create enough clear-cut chances.

In the second half, Richarlison appeared to have earned a penalty after he was caught by Hugo Lloris.
However, after a video check by referee Chris Kavanagh, the decision was turned down.
Michael Brown, while commentating for BBC Sport, said it was a “big call”, and that it was “extremely close.” He said it was a “tough one” for the officials.
“It’s a big call. My initial thought was that Hugo Lloris got the ball as he came across,” said Brown on BBC Radio Five Live.
“It’s extremely close, that’s why they took a while to make the decision.
”Clear and obvious’ is a little bit harsh, but that was a tough one for the officials.”
Massive decision
The referee took a lot of time to turn down the decision as he deemed the video evidence wasn’t conclusive enough to give a penalty.
However, a slo-mo replay shows that Richarlison initially had the ball, and Lloris first caught his boot, rather than the ball.

It’s a tough call, but Everton should have got the penalty.
In a game where chances are few and far, one or two moments like this could have changed the outcome of the game.
Everton, who lost three previous games before this fixture, badly needed a victory. In the end, they will feel like they could have got more.
It was a solid performance from everyone with the likes of Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend, Fabian Delph and Michael Keane, particularly impressive.
In other Everton news, a BBC man was furious with one decision during the first half of the game against Tottenham.
