Stan Collymore predicts result of Everton v Tottenham
Everton are hoping to prevent a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat when they host Antonio Conte-led Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Defeats at the hands of West Ham United, Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers have heaped pressure on Rafa Benitez after a promising start to life as Toffees manager.
Things could get worse for the Spaniard should Spurs leave Goodison Park with all three points, and Stan Collymore expects the North Londoners to win, predicting a 2-1 defeat for Everton.
“The start of the Antonio Conte era will herald a positive result and put a little bit more pressure on Rafa Benitez,” said Collymore in the print edition of the People [November 7, page 56].
“Even though it shouldn’t.”
Tricky
Conte started his reign as Spurs manager with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Vitesse in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, and he will be more than keen to begin life as a Premier League boss again with a victory.
The ever-demanding Italian definitely wants to leave Merseyside with a smile, and that could be trouble for injury-hit Everton.
Benitez needs a quick response from his men after they failed to react to their last two defeats.
The fans will not be forgiving if Tottenham blow their side away this evening, and it will be interesting to see how Everton set up.
Benitez cannot afford to head into the international break on the back of a loss, and he needs to come up with the perfect line-up and plan.
A win will come as a huge relief, but getting it will not be easy as Conte and his men have other ideas.
A keenly-contested clash is expected, and the better team will come out on top.
