Rafa Benitez: Allan came off due to flu
Rafa Benitez has stated that Everton midfielder Allan came off the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur due to the flu.
The Brazilian had a busy afternoon and was withdrawn for Mason Holgate in the 82nd minute.
The Englishman ended up getting sent off, leading to many question Benitez’s decision to withdraw Allan.

However, as it seems, he had no other choice.
According to The Liverpool Echo, Benitez said, “Allan has had flu and he was running a lot so we had to make a substitution.”
Hope it’s innocuous
Everton are in no position to lose both of their first-choice midfielders with Abdoulaye Doucoure already ruled out for a number of weeks.
Allan has been omnipresent in the Toffees midfield and his absence could be felt after Benitez opted to bring him off.
The control that he had over the tempo suddenly vanished and instead of offering more solidity at the back, Holgate made things more difficult for his side.

We’re hoping that the flu is not too severe and he will be back in action straight after the international break.
Thankfully for the Toffees, they don’t play for another two weeks so that gives the likes of Allan plenty of time to recuperate and get back to action.
Sunday was a sign that Benitez is taking this side in the right direction but he’s going to need some backing in the January transfer window.
