Marcel Brands denies Everton were told to pay £40million for Aleksandr Golovin

Everton director of football Marcel Brands claims that the club haven’t been told to pay 46million Euros for Aleksandr Golovin.

Speaking to Sport-Express in Russia, the Dutchman rubbished claims that Monaco want over £40million for the Toffees to sign the Russian.

The Liverpool Echo claimed that the Ligue 1 side are looking for a huge fee for the 25-year-old after the Toffees were linked with a move for Golovin by Championat.

Brands said: “The information that Monaco asked us for 46 million euros for Golovin is absolute nonsense.”

Brands dismisses the rumours.

So, it seems as if the Toffees don’t have to pay £40million for Golovin; however, it could be less, or it could be more, he doesn’t say either.

However, if Brands is directly talking about Golovin, then you would think that the Toffees are keen on signing the Russian.

If not, he probably would have dismissed these rumours straight away. Instead, he focused on the price tag rather than anything else.

Golovin could be the type of player that the Toffees desperately need; he is versatile and experienced.

So far this season, he has scored three goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances.

So, he looks like he could be an ideal addition to this Toffees side, and you would think that the club are interested in him because Brands didn’t dismiss the possibility of signing him and instead focused on the reported fee.

Therefore, this could be one for Toffees fans to keep an eye on.
