Journalist: Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin to go for huge fee

Liam Kennedy believes that Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave the club for a massive fee.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, the Newcastle World reporter claimed that he couldn’t see Newcastle United making a move for the striker unless they offered a ridiculous amount of money.

The Toon have been linked with a move for the England man, but if the Toffees were to sell, Kennedy could see them raking in a huge fee [Telegraph].

He said: The one thing I would say about the Calvert-Lewin link – and I don’t know the ins and outs of that deal, to be brutally honest – is that the transfer fee could prove to be exorbitant unless there’s some kind of caveat in his deal.

“I’m not privy, and I don’t know the ins and outs of his contract situation.

“But what I would say is a lad who’s basically the number two striker for England and scored good goals in the Premier League over the last couple of years would be somebody who would command quite a considerable fee in the current market.”

Newcastle unlikely to make a move for Calvert-Lewin.

The Toon are now the richest club in the world; however, can you really see them deciding to splash a ridiculous amount of money on the England striker?

They already have Callum Wilson, and we can’t imagine that Calvert-Lewin would be happy to even compete with another striker like Wilson.

However, from the 24-year-old’s point of view, why would he leave the Toffees at the moment to go to Newcastle?

Everton

Everton are above the Toon in the table and have a world-class manager.

The Toon are in a relegation battle, and even with investment, could go down; while Eddie Howe is a very good coach and has built teams up in the past, he doesn’t have the same CV as Rafael Benitez.

So, though the Toon could be in a great position in the next few years, it isn’t time for Calvert-Lewin to be even considering that move as the Toffees are in a better position right now.

In other Everton news, Cenk Tosun is desperate to leave but the Toffees want a seven-figure sum to let him go.
