Everton Super Fans react as Blues reportedly plot January move for Ross Barkley
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Everton fans have delivered contrasting reactions to a report that the Blues are plotting a January move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.
TEAMtalk reported on Wednesday [10/11/21] that the Merseyside club are interested in a loan deal for the 27-year-old, with a view to it becoming permanent.
However, Leeds United and Newcastle United are also in the race for Barkley’s signature.

It would cap a remarkable return for the 35-cap England international, who rose through the ranks at Everton before leaving for Chelsea in 2018.
Goodison News asked our panel of Everton Super Fans for their thoughts on Barkley’s potential return to Goodison Park.
Here’s what they had to say…

Controversial
Unsurprisngly, this one has split opinion.
The manner of Barkley’s departure caused consternation among the Goodison faithful while many feel that he never lived up to his early billing.
Barkley shone under Roberto Martinez during the 2013/14 season as Everton pushed for Champions League qualification, narrowly missing out as they finished fifth.
He failed to recapture that form for most of his Blues career, though, and he hasn’t fared any better at Chelsea, being sent out on loan to Aston Villa last season.
Barkley returned to Chelsea in the summer and has impressed in recent weeks after being handed opportunities.
However, it seems Chelsea will be happy to cash in on the form he is showing.
Everton are in desperate need of another central midfielder with Abdoulaye Doucoure’s recent injury showing the burden placed on Allan.
However, a move for Barkley may prove to be an unpopular one with some Blues supporters.
In other Everton news, the Blues are readying a ‘Super’ offer for this European superstar as his contact saga ensues.
