Sivasspor want to sign Everton centre-forward Salomon Rondon

Sivasspor want to sign Everton and Venezuela centre-forward Salomon Rondon, according to online Turkish news outlet Fanatik.

Rondon, 32, only joined Everton on transfer deadline day in August, signing a two-year contract with the option for a third season.

However, the South American striker is yet to score in his first eight appearances for the Merseyside club.

Now, Super Lig strugglers Sivasspor, currently sat 15th in Turkey’s top-flight, want to end his Blues misery.

There is said to have been “significant progress” made to sign him as they search for a new forward in January, and there is a possibility Rondon could leave England during the winter transfer window.

Sivasspor will “push all the conditions” for the 82-cap international with their manager, Riza Calimbay, seeking Rondon’s arrival if they can afford him.

Brief Rafa reunion?

It appeared to be a safe, but sensible move when Rondon made the move to Merseyside on August 31.

The Venezuelan knows Rafa Benitez well after working with him at Newcastle United and Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional, and with the Blues in financial difficulty, a proven Premier League forward arriving on a free transfer looked to be a no-brainer.

However, with star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined for much of the season so far, Rondon has failed to prove himself as an adequate deputy, looking slow and cumbersome in front of goal.

The initial excuse was that he needed to build up his fitness but Everton are already hurtling towards the festive schedule and he needs to start picking up the pace now.

Hopefully, his decision to stick with the Blues during the November international break will stand him in good stead for the rest of the season.

As for a potential exit, Benitez would surely have to be guaranteed a replacement for Rondon.

The only other senior striker at the club is big-money flop Cenk Tosun, who looks likely to make a move of his own to Turkey in January.
