Everton man Richarlison discusses the club’s injury problems and Rafael Benitez

Everton star Richarlison believes that the club have struggled in recent games because of injuries.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, the 24-year-old went into detail talking about the Toffees and their season so far.

He also heaped loads of praise on Rafael Benitez and backed the Spaniard to get things right at Goodison Park once the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin return.

He said: “It’s hard, isn’t it? We will always have ups and downs during the season also because we lost a lot of important players to injury. This made it a little difficult.

“He’s [DCL] an important player for our squad, for our team. Not only him but Yerry Mina, we also lost Doucoure. So they are important players that are missed at any team. So I think when they get back, the team will get better.

“Rafa Benitez is a coach who’s been at many clubs, big clubs, and we are here to learn from him too. He’s an experienced guy, just like Ancelotti. So we’re here to learn from him. So I think he has everything to help us achieve our goals during the season.”

A positive message from Richarlison.

The Brazilian is clearly feeling positive about the rest of the season once the Toffees’ big players return.

He was injured himself for four games, and in those matches, Everton only won one.

Since he has returned to the side, he has scored one goal, but the Toffees have failed to win a game and head to Manchester City on Sunday desperately looking for points.

Hopefully, the Toffees’ big players will be back soon before the busy festive period, but until then, they have to find a way to muddle through and pick up points.

However, it is good to hear that Richarlison is still behind Benitez and seems to believe that the Spaniard can turn everything around once a few players return from injury.

Until then, he will have to find a different way to go about things and try to pick up points, which has proven to be a tough challenge so far.
