Sporting Lisbon unlikely to activate option to buy clause for Everton loan man Joao Virginia

Sporting Lisbon appear unlikely to activate their option to buy clause inserted into Everton man Joao Virginia’s contract, according to a new report.

Liverpool World claim that the 22-year-old goalkeeper is struggling to make an impression with the Portuguese giants and is firmly behind Antonio Adan in the pecking order.

This can be seen in the number of games that Virginia has played.

Sporting have played 15 games in four competitions this season, and Virginia has played in just two. He has also failed to play in the Champions League or in the league.

Things not looking good for Virginia.

This looked like a great move for Virginia in the summer; it was a chance to make an impression at a huge club in a competitive league.

It also could have led to the Toffees making some money on the goalkeeper or could have put him in a better position to compete with Jordan Pickford.

However, things haven’t worked out so far, and you would have to say that the loan looks like it was a mistake as things stand.

There is still a long way to go in the season, so Virginia has time to turn it all around and become a first-team player, but as things stand, that looks a long way off, which is a shame.

Therefore, we will keep a close eye on the rest of Virginia’s loan and hope that he finds a way into the first team at some point in the near future.
