GN View: Jesse Lingard would be perfect for Everton

Everton have registered an interest in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, and the Toffees must do everything to bring him to Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old has a contract at the club till the end of the season, and he doesn’t want to extend a new deal.

In fact, he prefers to leave in January either on loan or on a permanent deal. A host of clubs including West Ham, Newcastle, Tottenham are keen to sign him, but Everton must make a solid attempt to sign him.

Need for a versatile winger

Everton need to sign a striker and a right-back in the summer, but Rafa Benitez would be willing to bring another versatile forward as well.

Lingard can play across all positions upfront and he would add tremendous depth and quality to the side. Benitez likes players who can perform various roles, and Lingard can do that.

Age and experience

At 28, Lingard should be playing at the peak of his career. However, he has been wasted at Old Trafford. Last season, he was outstanding on loan at West Ham, and he has scored two goals from the bench as well thus far.

He has got plenty of Premier League experience. He would be hungry to prove a point and Everton can give him the platform to shine.

Cut-price deal

He will be a free agent next summer, so United will be more than happy to cash in on him in January, whatever be the amount.

Everton are operating on a tight budget and they can get him on a cut-price deal. He is a hardworking player and would be a valuable addition to the side.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are demanding at least £30m for one of their star players.
