Alan Shearer comments on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

Alan Shearer has suggested that it would be harsh to blame Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for Manchester City’s second goal.

The popular football pundit said that he originally thought Pickford could have done better for the second goal the Toffees conceded.

However, after watching it a few times the Newcastle legend has changed his view. He feels it would be unfair on the England goalkeeper as it was a brilliant strike from Rodri.

“I originally thought that Pickford could have done a bit better but having seen two or three times now, I think that’s been a bit of harsh,” said Shearer to PL Tv production.

Spot on

It was an outstanding striker from the Spaniard. Pickford made an attempt to save it but it was beyond his reach.

A close look at that goal will reveal that Rodri covered a lot of distance unmarked before he shot a thunderbolt from distance.

The timing and placement of the strike were perfect. Pickford was not at fault for all three goals, rather the England international made some brilliant saves during the match.

To be fair, it was a very ordinary performance from the visitors. It hasn’t been helped with the injury to Demarai Gray. We’ve been very unlucky with our injuries, and it seems Gray could be out for a while.

Having said that, we kept the game tight for a while and made it difficult for City. However, a silly decision from Allan ended up City restoring possession and went 2-0 up that killed the game for us.
