Kevin Campbell doesn’t think Everton need Aaron Ramsey

Kevin Campbell doesn’t believe that Everton need to sign Aaron Ramsey and that they should be looking elsewhere.

The former Toffees forward believes that the 30-year-old is a “bit of a luxury” and that he would be a good addition if the Toffees were competing higher up the table.

He didn’t say exactly who he thinks Rafael Benitez should go out and bring in, but it is clear that Campbell can’t see Ramsey moving to Goodison Park.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “I think Everton have to box a bit clever in what they do.

“You know, trying to sign a player like Aaron Ramsey that’s for a team who are right there and are looking to get over the line.

“I think Everton have different needs; they need younger and more athletic players.

“I think Ramsey is a bit of a luxury; he’s got the quality, but he’s a bit of a luxury. I think Everton can’t afford that right now.”

Wise words from Campbell.

Ramsey has been linked with a January move to Merseyside with Calciomercato reporting that a move is “increasingly likely” and on paper, he looks as if he could be a great addition.

He has vast amounts of Premier League and international experience, and he has a good goalscoring record.

He also wants to leave Juventus, and the Old Lady want him gone as well [Fabrizio Romano].

So, you can see why Premier League clubs want him back in England.

However, we can see Campbell’s point, and he might not be what the Toffees need.

Everton

For one, he is on huge wages in Italy, and although you would think he would be willing to take a pay cut, can the Toffees afford to shell out big money on a 30-year-old?

You would have to say probably not, so though Ramsey looks like he could be a fantastic signing, it might be best if the Toffees look elsewhere in January.
