Jeff Stelling: Richarlison was daft v Manchester City, must be bewildered by life at Everton

Jeff Stelling has branded Richarlison’s yellow card at Manchester City as “daft” while suggesting the Brazilian must be baffled by current events at Everton.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [27/11/21], Stelling discussed Everton’s recent form that has seen them winless since September

He said: “Everton fans go out the room quickly, is this relegation form, could they get embroiled in the battle?

“You’ve got to worry that if things don’t improve it’s going to get really toxic.

“There will be no Richarlison tomorrow [against Brentford]because he’s suspended and it was a daft booking last week, but I felt for him because he was such a forlorn figure during the course of the game.

“He’s a Brazilian international, he must be thinking ‘what’s going on here?'”

2022, over and out?

Richarlison has been linked with a Goodison Park exit for a little while now, but the noises grew louder during the summer as PSG were reportedly at the front of the queue for his services.

Kylian Mbappe is expected to seal his dream move to Real Madrid in 2022, and that may well pave the way for the French capital club to sign Richarlison, particularly given the ages of their other star forwards, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

It would come as no surprise to Toffees were he to pursue that move, but the club must ensure they are adequately compensated for a Premier League-proven attacker, someone who is a regular starter for the Brazil national team.

Everton’s attack is pretty threadbare as it is, so they must ensure there are multiple replacements purchased with the Richarlison money.

As long as Dominic Calvert-Lewin stays, and the Blues are more active in the transfer market, it may well be a transfer that makes sense next summer.

In other Everton news, this Blues starlet is set to make debut v Brentford as a ‘Major’ injury doubt emerges over a summer signing.
