Andy Burnham has taken to Twitter to express his reaction after Everton lost 1-0 against Brentford in the Premier League clash on Sunday.

Burnham, the Labour Mayor of Greater Manchester, has made it very clear that the performance at the moment is “not good enough”.

Everton will face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Merseyside clash on Wednesday, and Burnham wants “a lot better” performance from the Toffees.

He wrote on Twitter: “Not good enough Everton. We expect a LOT better on Wednesday. “

Spot on

Burnham is absolutely spot on here. It’s a strong message from him that echoes the sentiment of the majority of the fans at the moment.

The performance is not good enough after Everton failed to win in their last seven games in the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez has used injury blows as a shield to defend himself, but he must take a share of the blame for this abject and gutless performance in recent games.

The Spaniard said that the players gave everything on the pitch. If that’s the case, then serious questions must be raised about the quality of the side.

Under Farhad Moshiri, Everton spent loads of money in the transfer market, and yet the results have been below par. And now, the manager has very little transfer budget to work on, and the squad needs a massive reinforcement.

On Wednesday, Everton will take on Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. It will be a very tough game for the Toffees, and irrespective of the result, the fans want to see a massive effort in the truest sense.
