Lewis Jones predicts Everton clash v Brentford

Lewis Jones has predicted Brentford to run out comfortable 2-0 winners against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Toffees have suffered a wretched run of form and their fantastic start to the season has turned sour very soon.

Rafa Benitez is certainly under fire for what has been a disappointing few weeks and he is desperately looking for a win to get his side out of this current slump.

In his column for Sky Sports, Jones does not see his fortunes changing any time soon.

He wrote, “Where are the goals (for Everton) going to come from? An Andros Townsend stunner, perhaps. That’s all I’ve got.

“Brentford have lost four of their last five, but their performance data remains strong – especially in the attacking metrics. In that period, only Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have amassed a bigger total expected goals for the figure than Brentford (7.67).

“Although they will yet again miss the influence of goalkeeper David Raya, their extra firepower in the final third makes a home win easy to fancy.”

Shocking

For a newly-promoted side to be picked to win so convincingly is a slap in the face for Everton.

It is also a wake-up sign as to where the club are at the moment and how far they’ve got to go before they can rest easy.

It is hard to blame this on Benitez entirely as he wasn’t properly backed in the transfer market.

Add to that, this side has suffered a number of injuries with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Seamus Coleman spending extended spells on the sidelines.

With no Richarlison also for this one, it’s clearly difficult to see where the goals for the Toffees will come from.

Demarai Gray himself is an injury doubt so this could be the game that Salomon Rondon shows the fans as to why he was signed during the summer.
