Everton prepared to get rid of key figure after series of mistakes

Everton appear to be willing to get rid of Marcel Brands after a series of poor transfer deals in recent years.

The Daily Mail report that the Dutchman could be in line for the sack if he keeps buying players who fail to deliver.

The report names Alex Iwobi and James Rodriguez as two of Brands’ additions that have either failed or are still struggling, and you have to say that he has made some poor decisions.

So, could he end up paying the price and lose his job? Well, it doesn’t seem as if it’s beyond the realms of possibility.

Brands running out of time?

The Dutchman arrived at Goodison Park with a big reputation, but some of his signings have been so poor.

Rodriguez looked good initially before fading and then moving to Qatar, but did he justify the wages that the club spent on him? No, he didn’t.

Iwobi is another odd one because he cost a lot but barely looks capable of doing anything in some games.

Moise Kean was another one who arrived with huge potential but again, that didn’t work out, and he is back in Italy with Juventus, who the Toffees signed him from in 2019.

So, you could argue that Brands is running out of chances and with the money he has spent, the club should have been doing better.

Therefore, it will be intriguing to see how this situation develops as the season progresses because Brands is one of the reasons why Benitez has this current squad.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have their eyes on a prolific South American striker.
