Sky Sports’ Alan Myers dismayed at Everton’s net spend over the last 10 windows
Everton have continued to struggle on and off the pitch since Farhad Moshiri took over as majority shareholder in 2016.
The Toffees have spent around £500million on transfer fees since the arrival of the British-Iranian businessman, and Alan Myers has taken to his personal Twitter account to express his shock after discovering that the club’s net spend is only surpassed by that of Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan over the previous 10 transfer windows, excluding last summer’s.
The Goodison Park outfit were only able to spend £1.7million in the summer, with Financial Fair Play regulations finally catching up with them.

The Sky Sports journalist said in his now-deleted posts: “Wow. I heard in the radio earlier, only Man City, Man Utd, Barcelona, PSG and Inter Milan had a bigger net spend than Everton across Europe over previous 10 windows (before this summer).
“Even the richest owner of any football club must surely look at the return for that investment and ask the question, why has this happened?
“Can it be just a string of failed managerial appointments or is it far more than that?”

Big mess
Rafa Benitez is Everton’s fifth manager under Moshiri, and he was unable to get in his desired targets in the summer due to FFP.
The club have been on a woeful run of recent, and they could do with some quality additions in January in order to freshen up their squad.
However, that is not likely to happen as the Spaniard is being made to suffer from the consequences of the mistakes of those before him.
The Toffees have brought in 44 players on permanent and temporary deals since the summer of 2016, but it is safe to say only a handful of them have been success stories.
Moshiri will definitely be baffled with what has happened so far, and his European dream for the club is not close to coming true anytime soon.

Everton have continued to languish in the middle of the table in recent seasons, and that is not likely to change this term.
There is not much that Benitez can do, with the lack of quality squad depth stopping him from getting the best out of the side.
The Spaniard’s days in the Goodison Park dugout are numbered if he cannot oversee much-needed changes, but the problem at the club is definitely bigger than anyone can imagine.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
