Everton confirmed XI v Liverpool – Richarlison starts

Rafa Benitez has made two changes to the Everton starting line-up against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby clash at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard is under a lot of pressure following a dismal run of form in the league.

Everton confirmed the team news via their official Twitter account prior to kick-off. Brazilian forward Richarlison has come into the side after he missed the last game due to suspension. Demarai Gray also starts.

Big performance needed

The Toffees are really struggling but it is the manager’s job to get the best out of the players.

The performance against Brentford was really poor, and the travelling fans voiced their frustrations on the stands.

The message was clear and loud – the standards are simply not good enough.

Benitez has urged the fans to stand behind their team ahead of the derby clash, but the fans want to see a big performance from the players as well.

Interestingly, the former Real Madrid boss feels that his players are giving everything on the pitch.

If such is the scenario, then it’s a big worry. The overall performance hasn’t simply been good enough.

Having said that, a derby win can change the atmosphere in the dressing room. It won’t be easy, considering Liverpool are in red-hot form at the moment.

Back to the walls, hopefully, the Toffees can produce the fightback we all believe they are capable of.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could look to sell one of their star players to raise transfer funds.
