Everton make enquiry to sign FC Porto attacker Luis Diaz
Everton have reportedly made an enquiry to FC Porto about the availability of attacker Luis Diaz.
According to Win Sports TV journalist Pipe Sierra, the 24-year-old is also chased by the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool.
It is believed that an offer of £42million could get the Portuguese side to begin negotiations while his release clause remains at £68million.
Sierra wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “Teams interested in Luis Díaz (24): Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool (no offer, at the moment)
“These clubs have only enquired, but they know that with approximately €50M they can sit down to negotiate with Porto. The release clause is at €80M.”
Tad expensive
Given Everton’s struggles in front of goal this season, it is clear that they can do with an attacker of the Colombian’s calibre.
Rafa Benitez has been unlucky with injuries this season and his main goal-scoring threat Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been ruled out after only playing three matches.
Getting a player like Diaz, who’s been labelled “excellent” by his international teammate Juan Cuadrado [Daily Mail], through the door would be a real coup for the Everton hierarchy and give Benitez a reliable goal-scoring option.

In 12 league games this season, the 24-year-old has already scored 10 goals and provided two assists.
While he’s certainly a phenomenal player ready to go to that next level, an asking price of over £40million is a tad steep and that could put Everton out of the race for his services.
It remains to be seen if the Toffees still continue pursuing the player or look elsewhere for a cheaper alternative.
