Some Everton fans left Goodison Park after first 20 minutes v Liverpool

The Athletic journalist Paddy Boyland reports that some Everton fans left Goodison Park just 20 minutes into the 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The visitors scored two early goals in the first half, with the Toffees lacking in intensity once more.

Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah scored for the visitors, leading to fans making for the exits before Salah added a second later on and Diogo Jota grabbed a fourth.

The Toffees, however, pulled one back through Demarai Gray but it probably didn’t lead to fans flooding back into the Grandy Old Lady.

Boyland tweeted: “Everton cut open on counter. Some people are leaving already.”

End of Rafa?

Gray has given hope and Everton can still turn it around in the second half.

However, the first 20 minutes was really awful. The Toffees were like chasing shadows, and they struggled to hold any control in the midfield.

While Liverpool fans chanted Benitez’s name, some people left the ground early.

Ahead of the match, Benitez urged the fans to stay behind the team and he didn’t expect such reaction from the home supporters.

Could this spell the end of the Spaniard’s short reign at Merseyside?

The Toffees are a poor run at the moment, and the football hasn’t been encouraging either.

Of course, Benitez believes that he will be given time to turn it around, but it seems he is losing support from the fans already.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could look to sell one of their star players to raise transfer funds.
