Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin wanted by Arsenal in January transfer window
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is wanted by Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The England international was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer [Telegraph], but stayed put on Merseyside.
He started and scored in the first three Premier League games of the season, but has not played a minute since due to a fractured toe and a quadriceps injury.

It has given Everton a glimpse into life without Calvert-Lewin, something which they may have to get used to if Arsenal are successful in prizing him away from Goodison Park.
The Daily Mail report that the 24-year-old is “greatly admired” in North London and is viewed as the “ideal candidate” to replace Alexandre Lacazette.
With Everton potentially needing to sell players to make signings of their own, the report adds that the Gunners are considering a bid of at least £60m for Calvert-Lewin.

Huge miss
Everton have severely struggled without Calvert-Lewin in the team over the last three months, so the prospect of losing him permanently is a scary thought for supporters.
It is true that the Toffees will need to sell players in order to free up a budget to conduct their own transfer business and their number nine is clearly the player who is worth the most money.
However, they would need to weigh up whether they would actually be able to find a suitable replacement for less than the price they sell him for, which is not an easy thing to do.

Last year (2020), Tony Cottee hailed the striker as “sensational” amid his fantastic form in the final third of the pitch.
He has been sorely missed this season due to injury, with both Richarlison and Salomon Rondon failing to reproduce his presence and goal output upfront.
If Arsenal are willing to test the Toffees’ resolve with a big bid in January, it could be a saga that drags throughout the month.
