Marcel Brands set to leave Everton with immediate effect
Marcel Brands has agreed a severance package with Everton and will step down with immediate effect, according to the Mirror.
The Toffees director of football has agreed with owner Farhad Moshri to leave Goodison Park by mutual consent after the side’s recent slump in form.
Brands, 59, is just seven months into the three-year contract he signed in the Spring, but he will only be paid until the end of the season as his association with the club ends.

Fair enough
The Dutchman joined Everton as Steve Walsh’s replacement in May 2018, but the team have only gotten worse after spending almost £300million under his reign.
The Goodison Park outfit have struggled under Rafa Benitez, losing six of their last eight games and drawing the other two.
Recruitment has been very poor under Brands, and a massive summer splurge two years ago has resulted in a £140million loss in their last accounts.
Everton planned to be challenging for Europe under Moshiri, but they do not have a squad capable of doing so despite splashing the cash.
Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright called an emergency board meeting last Friday (3 December), and while Benitez’s future was high on the agenda, it appears they made a decision to let go of Brands.

He flew back from Holland where he had been with his family as the board met at Finch Farm to discuss the direction of the club.
Moshiri flew in from the United States this weekend to meet with board members, and while talks with Benitez ahead of Monday’s game with Arsenal were scheduled, a first casualty appears to already be on the cards.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
