Jim White shares Farhad Moshiri texts after Everton beat Arsenal 2-1

Jim White has shared what Farhad Moshiri told him after Everton beat Arsenal 2-1 at Goodison Park on Monday night (6 December).

Late goals from Richarlison and Demarai Gray were enough to sink the Gunners after Martin Odegaard’s first-half opener.

Everton owner Moshiri was said to be desperate to be in attendance at Goodison despite the planned protests, but as White shared on Tuesday morning via talkSPORT (7 December), he was unable to.

“Farhad, he and I were messaging each other last night,” White said. “[I] couldn’t get hold of him this morning, having said that. Should he have been there?

“He said he couldn’t get around quarantine rules, he was disappointed he couldn’t get there, he said the rules are complicated.”

Long wait

Moshiri will now have to wait until 19 December before he can watch Everton play at Goodison Park again.

Before the Blues host Leicester City they face two tough tests in London against Crystal Palace (12 December) and Chelsea (16 December).

Moshiri will hope by then that the mood among supporters has improved.

Last night’s win should help and it lays a foundation for them to kick on now and shoot up the Premier League table.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be back fit this month and Andre Gomes made his return to the team as a substitute against the Gunners, with the Portuguese midfielder producing a sublime cameo.

The departure of Marcel Brands has offered a temporary scapegoat and last night’s planned protests were fairly muted as only a very small minority headed out on the 27th minute.

It has relieved the pressure ever so slightly, but it will all mean nothing if Everton do not pick up more points in the next few weeks.
