Trevor Sinclair: Demarai Gray eyeing World Cup spot
Demarai Gray was the hero for Everton last night as he grabbed a late winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Goodison Park.
The attacking midfielder was a threat for the hosts on Monday (6 December), and having been involved in both goals, Trevor Sinclair believes he has eyes on making Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad next year, taking to his personal Twitter account to react after the game.
Gray struck the bar before Richarlison headed in the equaliser when the ball bounced back to the Brazilian, and his deft finish left Aaron Ramsdale rooted to the spot, sending the home fans wild.

The talkSPORT pundit said: “Make no mistake, Demarai Gray wants to force his way into the World Cup squad.”
Definitely
Gray has played for England at youth level, but the closest he has come to playing for the senior side was when he was called up to the full squad for a friendly match against Switzerland in September 2018.
The Everton attacker has not come close since then, but Southgate knows him from the under-21s and is most likely keeping tabs on him following some fine performances for the Toffees since he returned to England in the summer.
The former Leicester City forward is eligible to play for Jamaica, but he definitely dreams of representing the Three Lions, and he is giving himself a chance with some impressive displays for the Toffees.

Gray now has five goals and two assists in 15 league games for Everton, and he has been involved in more goals than any of his teammates.
His pace and skills have caused the opposition a lot of problems this term, and if he continues impressing, not many will bet against him landing a spot in England’s star-studded attack for next year’s World Cup.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
