Everton Super Fans react as Rafa Benitez takes full control of transfers
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Rafa Benitez has confirmed that he will take charge of transfers at Everton following the departure of Marcel Brands.
The Dutchman left the post of the director of football after the Toffees have made a poor start to the season.

The recent results give an indication that the squad is highly imbalanced and that the club has only gone backwards despite pumping in loads of money.
The Spaniard insisted that he mostly likes to work without a director of football. Benitez said, as quoted by Liverpool Echo: “You can say it in this way.
“It’s not what I prefer, I was working for years with a director of football, it’s not an issue.”
Benitez was not a popular choice among the fans at the time of appointment, but the Toffees fans (majority) do feel that he deserves at least one or two windows to bring in the players of his choice.
The former Real Madrid boss worked on a shoe-string budget in the summer, and even then players like Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray have proved to be fantastic signings.
Here’s what the fans had to say:

More power to Benitez
To be honest, the entire blame shouldn’t fall on Brands. The constant chopping and changing of managers haven’t helped.
Benitez has a long history with transfers, but there is a feeling that he can do wonders if he is properly backed in the market.

At Valencia, despite winning two league titles, he left the club because of his disagreements over transfers.
At Liverpool, he did an incredible job forging a strong spine bringing in players like Dirk Kurt, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Pep Reina, Daniel Agger, Javier Mascherano etc.
If that is the route Everton want to take, they must back him properly.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
