Kevin Campbell reacts to small Everton fan protests v Arsenal

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has joked that Everton fans should protest every week after the 2-1 win over Arsenal on Monday evening.

Toffees fans planned a small walkout on the 27th minute at Goodison Park, to represent 27 years without a trophy being lifted by the club.

Campbell insisted that the walkout was small, and the roar that went up in that minute made more of a difference.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Well, if that’s a protest, can they protest every game?

“The roar that went up on the 27th minute, I know some fans protested and walked out, but the majority, 99% stayed and really got behind the team.

“I thought it was amazing, I know there are fans calling out and asking for that roar again on the 27th minute, it was immense.

“When the 12th man are behind the team, it’s a very difficult place to get anything.”

Wow.

It’s already three days later and we are still in awe of the scenes at Goodison Park on Monday evening (6th December).

Arsenal are meant to be a club on the up, but yet it was the injury-stricken Toffees that dominated and came from behind to pick up a much-deserved three points.

Demarai Gray secured that win with an unbelievable strike, and the celebrations after that overshadowed the small protest and the relief was palpable all around.

Now, it is time to kick on.

Rafa Benitez will be delighted at that win, but it means nothing if some form isn’t put together now and hopefully that can continue at Crystal Palace.

In other Everton news, an ex-Premier League referee was horrified by this controversial moment in the win over Arsenal.
