Kieran Trippier would be perfect for Everton

Everton are willing to make a move for Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window, according to reports from 90 mins.

While Newcastle United are looking to dish out crazy deals to bring him to St James’ Park, the Toffees should make an attempt to sign him.

Here’s why he would be a brilliant signing for the Toffees:

Everton

Need for a full-back

It’s an open secret that Everton need to sign a full-back. The right-back apparently requires immediate attention but it now seems the left-back is also an area that needs to be bolstered after recent developments on Lucas Digne’s future.

Typical Rafa signing

If you look at Benitez’s history, the Spaniard doesn’t seem to like marauding and cavalier full-backs, rather he has a soft spot for players who are very good at defending first. If he is equally good going forward, it’s an added bonus.

Nathan Patterson of Rangers can be a good option though, but he is the one for the future. An experienced defender who has got a wealth of experience, who is still capable of giving his best shot for 2-3 years easily, and who has got a winning mentality – is the need of the hour. Trippier, who wants to return to the Premier League, fits the bill.

Everton

Versatile

Had it been only an issue with the right-back, Everton probably wouldn’t have checked the former Tottenham defender. Going by the reports, Benitez needs assurance in the left-back role as well. Trippier, a “phenomenal” defender, can fit in both positions seamlessly, and it allows the manager to invest in other areas.

He would be a fantastic signing for the club, but there are obstacles. His price tag could be an issue, while the player may not be willing to join the Toffees as well.
