Danny Donachie shares Everton chat with Tim Cahill as ex-Blues duo pose for selfie

Danny Donachie has been pictured with Tim Cahill, weeks after his departure as director of medical services at Everton was confirmed.

Donachie left his role at Finch Farm last month (11 November), with The Athletic reporting that he had been relieved of his duties after Rafa Benitez conducted a review into injuries at the club.

On Monday night (13 December), Donachie posted a photo alongside Goodison Park hero Cahill on his personal Twitter profile.

He was then asked whether the pair were discussing Everton matters together.

“Of course,” Donachie replied.

Popular duo

Cahill made himself a favourite at Goodison with his goalscoring exploits after joining from Millwall in 2004, scoring over 50 goals until he left in 2012.

He was even named as one of 50 nominees for the Ballon d’Or in 2006, becoming the first Everton player in 18 years to be nominated.

Donachie, meanwhile, was at Everton for 17 years and six months, spread across two spells (December 2001 – December 2015, July 2018 – November 2021) and was well-liked among the players.

Both are ardent Blues now and know the club from bottom to top. They must be in agony at the club’s recent struggles and were in deep discussion about it.

It will be interesting to see what happens at Everton now that Donachie has left the Blues – Benitez appeared to be unhappy at the number of injuries under Donachie’s watch and seemingly ordered his dismissal.

Whether it was sheer bad luck or not remains to be seen but the absences of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Yerry Mina have hit Benitez and his side hard this season.

In other Everton news, the Blues made an approach on Thursday to sign this ‘Awesome’ Gary Lineker-hailed ace.
