Everton striker Nathan Broadhead earns plaudits on loan at Sunderland
Everton forward Nathan Broadhead has caught the eye of former striker Stephen Elliott while on loan at Sunderland.
The 23-year-old completed a season-long switch to the Stadium of Light in August, but struggled for game time to begin with.
However he is now a regular starter in Lee Johnson’s team and has scored four goals in his last four outings in League One.

In his column for the Sunderland Echo, Elliott raved about Broadhead’s performances on Wearside.
“I’ve been really impressed with Broadhead over the past few weeks,” he said.
“He has a good understanding of the game and drifts into some great positions on the pitch that opponents struggle to cope with. It seems like he is really enjoying his time at the club. He has undoubted potential and that is why Everton invested in him.
“Perhaps Sunderland is the club for him where he can thrive and create a name for himself before he goes back to Merseyside.”

Flourishing
Broadhead seems to have really found his feet at Sunderland and has been getting better and better over the last few weeks.
The Black Cats’ impressive early season form and a hamstring injury limited the striker to just one start in the first three months of the season.
Nonetheless, that did not stop Lee Johnson describing Broadhead as “fantastic” following a 5-0 win over Cheltenham at the end of September.
Now the 23-year-old is flourishing and was the standout performer in a 5-0 win over Morecambe last week (7 December), scoring twice.
Capable of playing as a number 10 or on the left wing, Broadhead is proving to be a real threat in the third tier.
He turns 24 in April, so perhaps the chances of him making it in the Premier League with Everton are decreasing, but whoever is in charge next summer (2022) should at least take a look at him in pre-season.
