Richarlison undergoes calf scan as Everton fears raised over December involvement

Everton star Richarlison could miss a number of December fixtures after sustaining an injury in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace (12 December).

That’s according to reliable Everton insider El Bobble – followed and often retweeted on Twitter by The Times journalist Paul Joyce – who made the claim via his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday afternoon (14 December).

They wrote: “Everton’s Richarlison has undergone a scan on a calf injury he sustained in the defeat at Crystal Palace. Initial fears from the clubs medical staff, is the Brazilian could now miss some key games in December.”

Another big blow to Benitez

Richarlison, 24, was substituted in the 58th minute of Everton’s defeat at Selhurst Park on Sunday, much to the dismay of the away supporters, who made their feelings known on Rafa Benitez’s decision to bring Salomon Rondon on for him.

The Spaniard fielded questions about Richarlison after the game and appeared visibly irritated that Blues had made their displeasure known without knowing the full facts.

Everton

Richarlison, Benitez claimed, has suffered a knock in the first half but wanted to play on at the start of the second half, with the staff to make a decision on him as the half wore on.

Those concerns appear well-placed now, with the Brazilian’s participation in the festive fixture list in doubt if El Bobble’s claim proves to be true.

He now looks extremely unlikely to play against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday (16 December) while he could miss out on further games against Leicester City (19 December), Burnley (26 December) and Newcastle United (30 December) before the New Year.

In other Everton news, the Blues have launched a bid to sign this Champions League left-back as Lucas Digne’s replacement.
