Everton consider Guus Til move in January amid Feyenoord loan clause

Everton are considering a bid to sign Dutch international Guus Till, according to online news outlet TEAMtalk.

Till, 23, is currently in the middle of a season-long loan at Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord from the Russian side Spartak Moscow.

However, there is a clause in the agreement that allows Spartak to recall the Zambian-born midfielder, who has four caps for the Netherlands, during the January transfer window.

Premier League rivals West Ham, Brighton, Southampton, Brentford and Wolves are all said to have joined Everton in expressing an interest in the 6ft1in Dutchman who has scored 15 goals in all competitions for Feyenoord this season.

However, despite Rafa Benitez looking at Til and weighing up a move, TEAMtalk’s report claims he could opt to stay at Feyenoord for the rest of the 2021/22 campaign as he aims to secure his place in the Netherlands squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Goals

Scoring has been an issue for Everton this season, particularly in recent weeks, with only eight Premier League clubs on fewer goals as of Wednesday afternoon (15 December).

Demarai Gray has accounted for 25% (five) of Everton’s 20 league goals, with injured duo Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on three apiece, the same as Andros Townsend.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is on two, but no one else in the Everton side has scored more than once.

Given the injury issues of Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin and Doucoure this season, the fact there are not more players stepping up to the plate is a worrying sign.

That’s where Til could come in handy.

It was his goalscoring exploits for AZ that convinced Spartak to splash out £15.3million on him in 2019, and while he struggled in Russia, he has reignited his career back in the Netherlands.

Indeed, he was recalled to the Dutch squad this year and scored in a 6-1 thrashing of Turkey in Amsterdam.
