Journalist rates chances of Everton striker Moise Kean completing Juventus-PSG swap with Mauro Icardi

Everton striker Moise Kean is unlikely to be included in a swap deal between Juventus and PSG, according to French journalist Hadrien Grenier.

Kean, 21, is contracted to Everton until 2024 but he rejoined Juventus in August on a two-year loan, with the Italian giants obligated to buy him permanently in 2024 under certain obligations [Transfermarkt].

However, Juventus have now been linked with a move for PSG centre-forward Mauro Icardi, leading a fan to ask whether the 28-year-old Argentinian could swap places with Kean in Turin.

However, Le10 journalist Grenier has poured cold water on that suggestion on his personal Twitter profile, though he has not categorically ruled it out.

“Kean is on loan at Juventus, he officially still belongs to Everton so it’s very complex if not impossible to imagine being included in such an operation,” Grenier wrote on Wednesday (15 December).

Distant Merseyside memory

Kean’s arrival at Goodison Park was met by glee from many Blues in 2019, but his brief spell at Everton was an unmitigated disaster.

He scored just four goals in 39 appearances for Everton, just two of those coming in the Premier League.

In fairness, the onset of the covid-19 pandemic did not help matters as his debut campaign was interrupted and he was unable to travel back to Italy.

However, given the cost it took to sign him from Juventus, it’s hard to say he was anything other than a huge disappointment.

He had a productive loan spell at PSG last season, scoring 13 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in attack.

But he has failed to build on that this season, scoring just twice in 11 Serie A outings as Alvaro Morata continually consigns him to the substitutes bench.

Quite how a swap deal with Icardi, who scored over 100 goals in Serie A for Sampdoria and Inter Milan, would work out is anyone’s guess – surely Juve would have to pay Everton up front to sign Kean outright before selling him to PSG.
