Sky Sports expert predicts the result for Everton clash v Chelsea

Everton will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday.

Ahead of the match, Sky Sports’ betting expert Lewis Jones has predicted a 2-0 defeat for the Toffees.

Everton are winless in their last six games away from home, and they face a massive task here to get something from this game.

Jones has suggested that Chelsea will try to test Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with constant shots at him from all angles. He wrote for Sky Sports:

“Perhaps it’s just a confidence thing and Everton might just be the perfect tonic for the champions of Europe to find it again.

“Everton are winless in six away league games, losing each of their last four in a row and have a habit under Rafa Benitez of only asking questions of teams when one or two goals behind. They can’t afford to do that at Stamford Bridge.

“Rudiger is a threat from set pieces, an area Everton in which are notoriously sloppy without Yerry Mina. On Sunday, James Tomkins scored the eighth goal Everton have conceded this season from set pieces this season.

“They’ll be soaking up pressure and shots should be coming at Jordan Pickford from all angles.”

Tough game

Benitez said (15 December) that one victory can change the mood around the club, but the question remains can they do it?

Once again, the Spaniard has been left frustrated with injury problems, with several players set to miss the clash.

Richarlison picked up a calf problem during the 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace and he was taken off during the second half.

While the fans were unhappy with the decision, it was later revealed that he took him off as precaution. Nevertheless, the Brazilian is set to remain absent for a few weeks now.

Andros Townsend also picked up a bone fracture injury and the winger won’t take part in this fixture as well.

Seamus Coleman is another absentee while Lucas Digne also misses out with illness.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin still not fully fit, Everton are seriously lacking in depth and quality ahead of this game.

Everton have lost four games in a row away from home, and it could be another tough night for the Merseyside club once again.
