BT Sport pundit blasts Everton ahead of clash v Chelsea, Glenn Hoddle reacts

Everton faced heavy criticism on BT Sports ahead of their clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Benitez has been without some of his best players through injury this season, making it very hard for Everton to not only play well but play with consistency.

COVID-19 has now struck, with Everton missing more than 10 first team players with Glenn Hoddle and Joleon Lescott directing their issues.

The Toffees face an uphill battle to get a positive result from the European Champions and will hope to have much of their decimated squad fit and playing as soon as possible.

“They’ve got injuries on top of this COVID-19 problem, I do feel for Everton,” he said. “They are looking to get a point from anywhere let alone this game. They are going to find it tough at the best of times.

“I just can’t see it tonight under the circumstances. In a way a don’t think anyone is going to expect them to get anything from this game so they could go out there and play with a bit of freedom.”

Former Blues defender, Lescott, added: “They haven’t found a rhythm of late, no consistency in their performances even though the performances haven’t been great.”

Truthfully, Everton would massively benefit from a pause in fixtures as the country looks to regain control on the ongoing pandemic.

It would allow Benitez and his team to regather but more importantly, give their injured and sick players the opportunity to come back fitter and stronger after Christmas.

First, they must endure the second half at the Bridge, a stadium in which they haven’t won in their last 26 visits.

In other Everton news, Everton warned that Aberdeen don’t need to sell Calvin Ramsey.
