Kevin Ratcliffe reacts after Everton 1-1 draw v Chelsea
Kevin Ratcliffe was thrilled by the performance of Everton youngsters as the Toffees managed a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League clash on Thursday night.
Without Yerry Mina, Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andros Townsend and many others, Rafa Benitez had little options left with him but to field a depleted side full of young talents.
They grabbed their opportunities with both hands and produced a strong performance as they picked up a positive result away at Stamford Bridge.

Former Everton hero, Kevin Ratcliffe took to Twitter to praise the young players after the game: He wrote: “well done you young lads a great effort”

Back to the walls, the fightback began.
Everton got lucky in a way that kept the scoreline 1-1, but the credit should go to the defence and Jordan Pickford instead.
Everyone on the pitch gave their best shot and no one can question the desire and commitment of the players.

Jarrad Branthwaite produced arguably his best performance for the Toffees, but the likes of Michael Keane, Jonjoe Kenny and Ben Godfrey were equally crucial to Everton’s result.
The host made as many as 23 attempts during the game, and had it been not for Keane, Everton would have suffered a similar result that Leeds faced in this round against Manchester City.
However, the young players deserve a lot of credit. Anthony Gordon was superb, and it was a great delivery from the youngster.
Branthwaite was calm and composed throughout, and Benitez was full of praise for him after the game.
This could be the base for real progress going forward.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
