Everton target Vitaly Mykolenko backed to succeed at Goodison Park

Former Ukraine manager Myron Markevych has got ‘no doubts’ that Vitaly Mykolenko will be a success at Everton should he join the Goodison Park club.

The Blues have been linked with a £20m transfer for the 22-year-old left-back as rumours about a rift between Rafa Benitez and Lucas Digne continue to spread like wildfire.

But with very little known about Mykolenko on this side of the world, fans are looking for any bit of info they can get and it seems Markevych has a glowing review of the defender.

Speaking to Meta Ratings, Markevych believes that now is the perfect time for the left-back to make the transfer and he has ‘no doubts’ that he will make a good impression on the Goodison Park faithful.

“By his dedication, his desire to improve, Vitaly Mykolenko deserved such a challenge in his career,” he said.

“It’s really a real challenge for the 22-year-old, who has proven with his quality play recently at all levels that he is ready to test his capabilities in the world’s strongest soccer league.

“I had to read the statements of some experts that it’s too early for Mykolenko to go to England. I do not think so, on the contrary, Vitaly urgently need to bid farewell to the UPL championship.

“I have no doubt that thanks to his desire to play through thick and thin, Mykolenko will gain credibility with the local fans and do his best to get Everton out of the relegation zone.”

Big shoes

Whether Mykolenko joins or not is unknown right now, but whoever eventually replaces the seemingly outgoing Digne has a big job on their hands.

Should that be Mykolenko, then Everton fans will need to get behind him right away and help him bed in.

He has played in the Champions League, so that’s a good level of experience for a 22-year-old, but the Premier League is so intense and is played at such a high speed that he will have little time to be able to bed in.

With a reported fee of £20m, the lights will be on him early and how he deals with that will have a big say on whether or not he can be a success for the Toffees.
