Everton left-back Lucas Digne takes to Instagram to send cryptic message

Everton left-back Lucas Digne appears to be edging closer to a Goodison Park exit after falling out with Rafa Benitez.

Dynamo Kyiv ace Vitaliy Mykolenko, 22, has been identified as the Frenchman’s replacement, with several reports claiming the Toffees have agreed a deal ahead of a January transfer.

Digne, 28, missed Everton last game, with Benitez claiming he was not fit to travel to Chelsea, and the full-back has taken to his personal Instagram account to send a message.

He said: “Work hard. It’s my DNA.”

An harsh tag that said “no day off” followed

Exit on?

A lot of clubs in and out of the Premier League have already been linked with Digne, and he is definitely not going to be short of suitors when the transfer window opens in January.

He has played his last game for Everton from the look of things, and while he is not likely to make the Spaniard’s matchday squad again, that will not stop him from continuing to give his best in training.

Ben Godfrey has played the last three games at left-back and that is expected to be the case when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.

Everton

Digne has struggled to come to terms with the Toffees’ style of play under Benitez, with his attacking input affected as a result.

It is only right for him to move on and join a team that plays to his strength.

Everton will not be missing him as they have done well in his absence, and they now need to look to secure a good deal from his potential sale.

Benitez has won another battle having seen the back of Marcel Brands, and hopefully, he does not fall out with more members of the playing and non-playing staff.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
