David Weir will not return to Everton
David Weir is not close to making a return to Everton despite reports suggesting that he is, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Connor O’Neil, in his recent piece for the Echo, has thrown cold water over Weir returning to Goodison Park in a player development role.
This update was issued three hours after the Daily Mail reported that he was indeed set to take up this position at the club.

Fake news
The Mail have been called out for blatantly lying about an Everton story as once they got wind of this correction from O’Neil, they took down their story.
It was originally on this link, before they decided to remove it from their website.
Currently, Weir is the loans manager at Brighton and while there’s no update on what he plans on doing in the future, he is certainly not on his way back to the club.
Weir, who was a former defender at Everton, also had a previous role in the club’s academy.

He amassed 254 appearances for the Toffees and managed to score 18 goals in his seven-year stint at the club.
While fans would love to have him back on board, that reunion may have to wait a bit longer.
He does have first-team managerial experience as he was in charge of Sheffield United in the past.
