Everton to make renewed bid for Rangers man Nathan Patterson in January

Everton will make a renewed bid for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Toffees boss Rafa Benitez saw an offer for the Scotland international, 20, knocked back in the summer, and he plans to return with another one when the winter transfer window opens next month.

Everton are likely to go back with around £9million for the signature of Patterson, but whether that would be enough to tempt the Scottish Premiership giants into selling is unknown.

Seamus Coleman is the first-choice right-back at Goodison Park, but the club clearly want a long-term replacement for their ageing skipper, and it appears Benitez does not trust Jonjoe Kenny.

Patterson has continued to play second fiddle to James Tavernier at Ibrox, and the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Steven Gerrard’s replacement has not changed anything.

With Everton returning next month with another bid, the youngster could be open to leaving.

The right-back has made 11 appearances for Rangers in 2021-22, but he has started only two times in the Scottish Premiership.

While he has established himself in the Scotland team that reached the World Cup play-offs, he knows he has to play regularly going forward, and the chance to do so in the English top-flight is appealing, without a doubt.

Everton saw two bids rejected last time out, and whether they will be successful with a third one remains to be seen, but they will be hoping to in a bid to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
