Nathan Patterson wants to join Everton from Rangers in January

Everton have to find a way to agree to a fee with Rangers as Nathan Patterson is interested in a move in January, according to El Bobble.

The reliable Toffees insider – followed on Twitter by The Times journalist Paul Joyce – posted the update on their account Tuesday’s night (21 December), confirming earlier reports from the likes of the Daily Mirror and The Guardian, and they also provided additional info.

Everton are set to offer a third bid for the 20-year-old Scotland international right-back, and it appears all that is left for both clubs is to agree to a payment structure.

El Bobble said: “As some reports suggest, Everton have reignited last summer’s interest in Nathan Patterson from Scottish club Rangers.

“The player is keen on the move.

“The issue now lies with Everton to find a solution regarding a fee, with Rangers wanting the majority of the fee upfront.”

Good news

Rafa Benitez was very interested in bringing the youngster to Goodison Park in the summer, and it appears that will finally be happening in January.

The exact fee that Rangers want has not been revealed, but it has been reported that they knocked back £5million and £9million from the Toffees for his signature last time out.

Jonjoe Kenny stood in for skipper Seamus Coleman during the last game, but it does not seem that the Spaniard trusts the 24-year-old to continue providing cover and competition for the 33-year-old.

Patterson is as highly-rated as they come, with Steven Gerrard refusing to let the Premiership giants sell him while he was still their manager.

That he plays for Scotland at such an age speaks volumes, and he could prove to be a long-term successor to the veteran Irish full-back.

Everton want to get their campaign back on track and aim for Europe during the second half of 2021-22, and they could be set to land another bargain deal.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
