Everton have request to postpone Burnley Boxing Day clash rejected by Premier League

Everton have reportedly had their request to postpone the Boxing Day fixture against Burnley rejected by the Premier League.

According to Times journalist Paul Joyce, the Toffees wanted to postpone the game due to the number of Covid cases in the camp.

However, this was turned down by the Premier League, and despite Rafa Benitez making a public declaration, the game is set to go ahead.

Shambolic

The Liverpool v Leeds and Watford v Wolves games have been called off but it’s surprising that nothing has been done for the Everton clash.

With five cases in addition to the growing list of injuries, the Premier League still feels it’s fine to go ahead with the game.

It’s shambolic to see the league making such decisions without any consideration.

Ideally, the same logic should be applied to all times, but this decision clearly doesn’t seem to be that way.

It could be the broadcasters putting pressure as every team would then pull out due to Covid cases.

However, if they’ve allowed four teams to do it, then surely they must allow others to have a right to get their fixtures postponed.

The lack of clarity in these decision making processes is there for everyone to see, and we’re frankly, sick of it.
