Sky Sports presenter ‘really surprised’ by Lucas Digne situation
Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has admitted he is ‘very surprised’ by the ongoing situation at Everton involving Lucas Digne.
Everton boss Rafa Benitez and defender Digne have been at loggerheads recently which has seen the Frenchman left out of the team.
Rumours have stated that the 29-year-old will leave the club in January, with the Toffees already close to replacing him with Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaly Mykolenko in a deal worth around £20m.

The situation with Digne has moved quickly, considering he started all 13 Premier League games until the feud began.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sports presenter Downie has revealed his surprise at the situation happening the way it has.
“Really surprised to hear things haven’t worked out for him at Everton and he’s going to be leaving.”

Big decision
The decision to potentially let Digne leave the club so quickly after a feud between him and the manager developed could be damning for Everton.
It clearly wouldn’t have been planned as a long-term situation, which means the club would have been forced to rush their decision on finding a replacement for him too.
While there is no suggestion that Mykolenko isn’t up to the task, Digne has proven his quality over the years and would be a big loss regardless of that.
It is certainly a surprise that the club are backing the manager so vehemently by seemingly outing one of their best players at the drop of a hat, but it may mean that the club know just how bad the situation is.
Either way, Digne is going to be a loss to the Everton changing room but Benitez is going to have the change to really shape his squad in his own image now so there will be little excuse but to succeed.
