Everton may consider sending Jean-Philippe Gbamin out on loan in January

Everton may consider sending Jean-Philippe Gbamin out on loan in January in order for him to gain regular game time, according to Liverpool Echo.

The Ivory Coast international midfielder, 26, has only featured in four games across all competitions in 2021-22, and having missed out on a call to feature at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations, he is available to leave Goodison Park temporarily when the winter transfer window opens.

Rafa Benitez recently admitted that the Gbamin’s situation is “complicated”, and given that he is way down the Spaniard’s pecking order, a loan exit could do him some good.

The midfielder joined the Toffees from Mainz 05 in August 2019 on a five-year deal for £25million as Idrissa Gueye’s replacement, but he has featured in just six Premier League games since.

While constant injuries have not helped, Gbamin has simply not been able to force his way into Benitez’s plans since becoming fully fit of recent.

The Everton manager is eyeing a move for a new central midfielder in January, and it is safe to say he does not see the Ivorian as part of his plans.

The likes of Tyler Onyango, 18, could feature in the first-team more than him going forward, and it is why a loan move makes sense.

Gbamin was one of Mainz’s best players, and he can still rediscover that form if he gets to see regular action.

Unfortunately, that is not available at Goodison Park right now, and with only half of his contract gone, he still has time to prove that he can become a success story.

Some clubs in England, France and Germany could be open to having him till the end of the 2021-22 campaign, and he needs to take his time before making a decision.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
