Everton in pole position for Inter Milan man Matias Vecino
Everton are in pole position to sign Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino in January, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.
The contract of the Uruguayan international, 30, expires at the end of 2021-22, and the Champions League side are looking to cash in on him, with the winter transfer window being their last chance to do so.
Vecino’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, is offering the player to both clubs in the Serie A and abroad, with the Toffees joined by Leicester City and Real Betis in the race.

Inter are also open to a swap deal, and having been linked with Lucas Digne, the possibility of having the Frenchman move to San Siro, with Vecino moving the other way has been mooted.
Good deal?
Rafa Benitez will be keen to strengthen his squad when the January transfer window opens, and landing a quality central midfielder would do his side a lot of good.
The Inter star has featured in 15 games across all competitions this term, helping them book a place in the last-16 of the Champions League.
He has been a regular for the side since 2017-18, and his experience playing in the Europa League and helping them land the title last term would come in handy at Goodison Park.
The former Fiorentina star could be keen on playing in the Premier League, and Everton should be able to afford him given his contract situation.

With Digne out of favour, the Toffees could land the South American for free if the left-back is open to a swap.
Everton need quality depth in their ranks to finish in the European places during the second half of the campaign, and the quality of signings they make in January will determine their chances.
Financial Fair Play restrictions mean that they are still unable to bring out the chequebook, but Vecino will not cost an arm and a leg, and they should be jumping all over this deal.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
