Everton negotiating deal to sign Nathan Patterson
Everton are hopeful of securing a deal for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson in the January transfer window.
According to reliable Everton insider El Bobble, the Toffees are in talks to sign the highly-rated right-back, with the player keen on a move to Goodison Park.
The 20-year-old is a promising young talent, but he has struggled for regular games this season.

Everton made two approaches during the summer but both were rejected when Steven Gerrard was in charge at Rangers [Liverpool Echo].
The Bobble wrote on Twitter [28 December]: “Everton remain in talks with Scottish club Rangers, over the transfer for Nathan Patterson.
“Everton are still hopeful a deal can be agreed in the January transfer window, with the player keen on the move.
“Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.”
Fantastic signing
Patterson is an “exceptional” talent. He has made 26 appearances for the Scottish Premiership champions to date but has started in only three games so far.
James Tavernier is the first-choice right-back at the club, and the youngster has found it difficult to dislodge him from the starting berth. However, he has always looked assured whenever he took the pitch.

Patterson is a versatile defender and his last two appearances for the Gers have come from the left-back position.
The full-back is one area Rafa Benitez will be looking to bolster in January.
Seamus Coleman is the club’s first-choice right-back, but Everton need a reliable back-up option, with Jonjoe Kenny failing to impress. Plus, a long-term replacement for Coleman is also needed.
At the same time, Lucas Digne’s future at the club is uncertain, and the Frenchman could be sold as well. Patterson can fill in at left-back if required.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are plotting January loan-to-buy bid for centre-mid hailed by Jack Grealish last month.
