Everton star Calvert-Lewin urged to join Arsenal by Gunners’ legends
Everton manager Rafael Benitez could face a challenge to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park with Arsenal rumoured to be interested.
The England international has been injured since August but that hasn’t stopped Arsenal legend Lee Dixon from encouraging his former side to make a move for the 24-year-old amid speculation linking him with the Emirates [football.london].
Paul Merson is another ex-Gunner who is keen to see Calvert-Lewin at the Emirates in 2022.

“Would I like to see Calvert-Lewin at Arsenal? I think yes,” ITV pundit Dixon told the Daily Mail.
“I think you’d struggle to get one of the top, top strikers like [Erling] Haaland. It would be a step up for Calvert-Lewin, no disrespect to Everton.”
“I like him, I think he’s got potential to be as good as he wants to be. He is fit and athletic, he is strong and good in the air and a good finisher. I would take him.”
Most Important Toffee
Having been without Calvert-Lewin for the majority of the season, it’s perhaps not the biggest surprise that Everton have struggled under Rafael Benitez.
Any team would be detrimentally worse without their star striker but the lack of an adequate replacement has caused the Toffee’s season to become one of survival.
January offers a great opportunity for Benitez to invest in another goal scorer who could not only help lift Everton away from danger at the bottom of the table, but provide healthy competition for Calvert-Lewin when he returns from injury.

Anthony Martial could be the ideal choice as the French striker is keen to leave Manchester United this window but some of Europe’s top clubs are also interested in his services.
Calvert-Lewin’s long absence from the team, while badly affecting results, should at least see him remain an Everton player throughout the rest of the season.
But a return to form when he is back playing could see clubs begin to circle for the goal machine.
